Human Rights

The EU is approx 500 million people. A little over a year ago they put into effect a more stringent human rights plan, but there is still a ways to go, not just in Europe but all over the world.

For my friends dedicated to the advocacy of human rights, I read a report called From Rights to Remedies which is great. It offers a blueprint, not just bemoaning current fissures in management at the national level, but actually putting forth suggestions and case studies.

Human rights are by definition egalitarian. All humans should be treated equally, and while certain governments recognize this, even they need help in implementation: to make sure things don’t fall between the cracks. Because if all humans cannot be treated equally, fairly, with dignity, and rights are not protected by the law, then what is the fucking point.

Thanks,

Ioanna
